In The First Monday in May filmmaker Andrew Rossi captures an extraordinary collision between haute couture and celebrities at one of the biggest fashion events in the world. Together with the Vouge Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, and Andrew Bolton, the curator of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, we get to watch the preparations of the famous MET gala and the latest exhibition ”China: Through The Looking Glass”. We also get to hear celebrities like Baz Luhrmann, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Wong Kar-wai and Rihanna share their views in the documentary.

The First Monday in May is a high-profile documentary in the vein of The September Issue, from the team behind the critically acclaimed documentary Page One: Inside the New York Times.

The First Monday in May is distributed by Magnolia in the US, and will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Edge Entertainment has acquired the rights from Elle Driver for Scandinavia, Iceland and the Baltics and will premiere in the region by late 2016.

Hedi tells the story of a young man about to go through a wedding arranged by his mother. But along the way he realizes he’s been living his life repressed for too long.

This critically acclaimed debut film by Mohamed Ben Attiaare is co-produced by the Dardenne brothers. The film is acquired from Luxbox for Scandinavia, Iceland and the Baltics. Arthaus has already come onboard as the theatrical distributor in Norway.

Hedi will premiere in the territory in early 2017.

Returning from the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin, Edge Entertainment are proud to present two high profile acquisitions. The Innocents by Anne Fontaine and Suburra by the team behind the success TV series Gomorrah.

The Innocents by Anne Fontaine which became one of the most buzzed about titles at Berlin’s EFM following the acclaimed world premiere at Sundance. Acquired from Films Distribution for Sweden, Finland, Iceland and the Baltics as well as the Pay TV rights for Denmark and Norway.

Poland, 1945. A young French doctor crosses paths with a nun in need of help. Entering into the convent she discovers that the nuns have been subjected to a brutal assault and she becomes their only hope.

Suburra by Stefano Sollima is an intense mafia drama in the vein of Gomorrah that recently premiered in Italy with great results. A TV series with the same name and produced by the same team has been commissioned as a Netflix original series premiering in 2017. Acquired from Indie Sales for Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland as well as the Pay TV rights for Finland.

A gangster known as “Samurai” wants to turn the waterfront of Rome into a new Las Vegas. All the local mob bosses have agreed to work for this common goal. But peace is not to last long.

“We are truly pleased to add two great high profile European titles to our 2016 line up. Both films will be released in cinemas across Scandinavia later in the year”, says Ignas Scheynius, Chairman of the Board at Edge Entertainment.

Mediterranea (international sales NDM) by Jonas Carpignano opened the Stockholm Film Festival earlier this month. Mediterranea was awarded three prizes at the festival’s Awards ceremony: Best Actor Koudous Seihon, Best First Film and the Telia Film Award. Mediterranea will have its Swedish premiere January 29 2016.

Edge Entertainment has acquired Mediterranea for Sweden, Finland, Iceland and the Baltics.

Edge Entertainment also acquired The Wait (international sales Pathé) directed by Pierro Messina, starring Juliette Binoche for Scandinavia and Iceland. The Wait had its world premier at the Venice Film Festival and comes from the producers behind The Grand Beauty and Youth.

Edges titles The Wolfpack, Maryland, Bolshoi Babylon, Palio and Valley of Love also screened at the Stockholm Film Festival and will have Swedish premiere winter 2015/2016.

Former couple Isabelle and Gérard (Isabelle Huppert and Gerard Depardieu) have not seen each other for years. They meet in Death Valley, California, to answer to an invitation they received from their son Michael, who committed suicide six months earlier. Valley of Love will world premiere Friday May 21^st. Edge has acquired Valley of love for Scandinavia and Iceland.

Edge is also excited to announce the recent acquisitions of Return to Ithaca (Funny Ballons) by Laurent Cantet for the Scandinavian and Icelandic market and 10 000 KM (Visit Film) by Carlos Marques-Marcet, who recently received a Goya for Best New Director.

Lucy Mulloy’s fantastic debut, Una Noche, is now available to rent through Triart Film. Triart film is a curated VOD platform that selects the best arthouse and independent features for users to rent. Triart’s curators have praised the documentary-like realism, backed up by the fact that two of the film’s leads defected to the US during a visit to a US-based film festival.

Lucy Mulloy’s acclaimed drama Una Noche is now available for rent and purchase through iTunes. See the film that Variety’s Justin Chang described as a “sexy, pulsing debut.”

The first is the latest from Palm d’Or winner Laurent Cantet, the acclaimed drama Return to Ithaca (Swedish title Himmel över Havanna). It tells the story of five friends who meet on a terrace overlooking Havana to celebrate the return of a friend from a 16-year self imposed exile. The tension rises as regret and buried frustration rises throughout the evening. A touching drama, with Havana’s unique milieu in the center.

We are also proud to present 10.000 KM, the feature debut of Carlos Marques-Marcet, starring Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones, Harry Potter). Centered on the couple Alex and Sergei, as they embark upon a year-long long-distance relationship as Alex gets the opportunity to work on her art in Los Angeles. Left in Spain Alex gets frustrated and it becomes clear that the technology that is supposed to bring them closer to each other might very well tear them apart.

Calin Netzer’s Golden Bear winning Child’s Pose will arrive to Swedish theaters on January 30th. The film will open in Stockholm, Malmö, Uppsala and Västerås. The film is the stirring story of a wealthy matriarch who does everything in her power to prevent justice from seeking her estranged adult son, once he kills a young boy in a traffic accident.
